History || Mission || Leadership || Support Us Oregon Scottish Rite Clinics is overseen by the Board of Trustees, which delegates the day to day management of the clinics to Dr. Philip J. Levinson, Executive Director. The clinics operate under a charter given by the Southern Jurisdiction, Scottish Rite of Freemasonry, as a separate, 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization registered in Oregon. In the past, all board positions were held by Scottish Rite Masons, but in 2003 the Board of Trustees voted to open its ranks to qualified community members who are interested in our program. The head of Oregon's Scottish Rite of Freemasonry, known as the "Sovereign Grand Inspector General", is James Taylor and he is a member of our Board of Trustees. Below is a list of Trustees for 2006: Walt Johnson,
President Emeritus Board
Members: Ex-officio
Board Member: Dr. Levinson is a licensed speech-language pathologist and received his training at the University of California Los Angeles and the University of Washington. He is past president of the Oregon Speech and Hearing Association and a Fellow of the American Speech-Language Hearing Assocation. Dr. Levinson divides his time between provision of direct therapy for children and administering the organizations as Executive Director, a position he has held since 1980 when the program was initiated in Oregon. He oversees a staff of nine, including six professional speech-language pathologists at the five clinic locations. All administrative, financial, and development functions are handled by our Portland headquarters, allowing each satellite clinic to focus exclusively on direct treatment of preschool children.
